Blog post 19 - Fluffles Productions

One of the main elements of the overall assignment that is used to connect the major project and both minor projects together is the creation of a brand, and using synergy through the different types of medias (short film, social media, postcard) to develop it. This company can also be the same as the AS level project’s one, so Ill be recreating the one I made last year.

The media studies text book provides a graphic of questions to think about when creating and spreading your brand. One of the things mentioned is creating a logo. I had previously made a logo last year, so I can look back on it and use it as a starting off point.

Fluffles Productions was the name of my studio, Fluffles being the name of the cat with the extremely small face featured. My original inspiration last year was Illumination, as they often use their Minion characters during their intro for comedic effect, even if the movie isn’t a part of the Despicable Me franchise. Fluffles is practically in the same boat at this point. In last year’s post, I explained that I made Fluffles for a “create a mini book” assignment, but since then, and even before then, I used this silly white cat quite frequently. In elementary school, I had to create a cook book, in which I featured a little white cat helping the reader along, another time I had to make a menu for a restaurant, in which I made Fluffles the mascot, other times, I just draw him on my papers for fun. At this point, Fluffles is a bit of a staple in my larger assignments, as long as its appropriate.

I got to work creating another logo for Fluffles Productions, this time wanting to add a bit more action. In last year’s logo, Fluffles is standing straight and just staring forward with nothing else going on. I wanted to change that this year. I tried to give him a bit more of an excited pose and made him looking down rather than straight at the fourth wall. I also game him something to stand on, a paint palette, in reference to my love of colors and creating. Fluffles has always been a plain white cat, but thats not the most interesting pallet ever, especially with a very simple drawing, so I decided to give him some rather unrealistic colorpoint features at the ears, tail, and back paws. Now my new logo is finished! This logo can be used during credits of my film, the profile picture for my social media page, and be featured on my postcard.
