Blog Post 16 - Audition Script + Charlotte Casting

Time to make that mini script. It won’t formatted like an actual script just yet, as it is just to be used for this audition only, and won’t be final. For which beat of the story for it to take place, I decided on the “conflict resolving conversation” beat. This is because this is the part that holds the most weight in my story. If someone can’t take it seriously, then there’s no point in having them play Kylie.

But that part involves Charlotte, so who’s gonna play her? At the very least, the person auditioning needs someone to respond to. Thats where I reveal that I will be the one playing Charlotte, both for the sake of this audition, and in the final project. I made this decision for a few reasons.

One is that I honestly put quite a bit of myself into Charlotte. I too am a very emotional person, who is thankfully comfortable in their own skin. I will without a doubt pace around a room and jump up and down and flapping my hands excitedly while talking about warrior cats of all things for hours at a time. Ive done it before and I’ll do it again. While I manage to stop and think about it more in settings like school, I can be very blunt with my friends and family, just like how Charlotte is. My second main reason is just that I want control of a character. It’ll make me feel like I have more control over the project as a whole. Since Charlotte isn’t the main character, it’ll still give me control over the camera during more dynamic bits for Kylie, while also still being able to act.

Back to the original topic, the mini audition script!

I made this in about 20 minutes, and 100% does not yet sound how I want the actual scene to be, but it works for our purpose. I'll get my three options to read it in front of the camera, and decide who does best/who has what I'm going for the most.
