Blog Post 1 - Starting Off

Hello and welcome to my A level Media Studies blog for my final project.


Out of the different packages provided, I decided to select the short film package. To remind myself, the short film package’s major task is to create a full (approximately) 5 minute short film. The minor tasks are to create an official social media page for the film, as well as create a post card that would theoretically be given out as advertisement at a film festival. 


I personally decided to go for a short film because of my love for story creation. Making a character, giving them life, and creating them a world to reside in are activities I spend most of my time doing. While I usually stick to fantasy concepts, this time, I would like to base my major task in reality. In my AS level project, I centered my story in fiction, whether it was ideas from my head, or from the fantastical stories I had already consumed. This time, I would like my jumping off point to be more real.


The first thing that came to mind was cats. I absolutely adore cats and anyone who’s spent more than a minute with me can figure that out pretty quickly. I’ve researched their genetics, domestication, traits and capabilities, and so much more, just for the sake of knowing more cat knowledge. Finding cats to use won’t be any trouble either, since I have two pretty kitties of my very own who listen to me well enough that I can get them to do certain tasks.


Another thing I enjoy researching for fun is disorders, specifically psychology wise. Learning how the human brain works and adapts to its environment has always been fascinating to me, especially because not everyone’s brain is wired the same way. Learning how the brain and these conditions work is also very important when it comes to creating sympathy for the people around us. After all, people tends to grow bitter to things they don’t understand. Besides just the fascination, I myself have my own neurological disorders, and I’d like to represent that. 



So, how to combine these two topics? I have a bit of an idea :3c
