Blog Post 39 - Social Media For Branding

Building a brand is one of the main components of this project,  as it is what will connect the major and two minor projects together.

A social media presence in this day and age is a huge way to advertise in current times. People are constantly on their phones, and the majority of that time is spent on social media. The current top three social media apps are Instagram in 3rd, Youtube in 2nd, and Facebook in 1st place. Instagram alone, being at just 3rd place has around 2 billion users. Companies will take advantage of just how many people are on social media and use them as advertising audiences since they know that theres the possibility of reaching millions of potential consumers. Having an Instagram is one of the minor projects needed to complete my A level media studies final project, so it’s clear just how important it is to building a brand.

Companies don’t often just stick to one social media app though. Sure, Instagram has those 2 billion users, but Youtube is estimated to have around 2.5 billion, and Facebook over 3 billion. Additionally, some social media users only have one or two social media apps. If a potential consumer only has Facebook, and a company only advertises on Instagram, theres no way for that person to reach that content. For this reason, companies like to make multiple social media pages on different apps.

Some social media apps also focus more on different forms of content. Youtube is especially an outlier compared to Facebook and Instagram, as it focuses more on longford content rather than short form/photos. Using different forms of content will cater to different audiences who prefer to consume different forms of content.

To grow my branding, Ive made a  YouTube for my company. For my YouTube, I plan to re upload my AS level project there, as well as post this year's short film on it. These other social media pages can also be mentioned on my post card on where to contact/accesses more content from Fluffles Productions.
