Time for the best part of announcement making. Kitty photo shoot! Taking the doodles from the mockups I made, I tried to replicate them in photo form.
I started off using my cat Oreo, as she is the more well behaved one. The photo shoot in being done in my living room, since that is where the home scenes of my film will take place. In order to get her to interact with the bracelet, I bribed her by placing a few pieces of kibbles in the center. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get her to paw at the bracelet like one of my mockups had, but I did take some shots of her with her face in it. For the images with the cat simply looking at the bracelet, I simply waited until she lifted her head once she ate all the kibbles, and took the photo then.
Next was Emmy. While I plan for Oreo to be the main cat in the film, since, again, she’s more well behaved, that doesn’t mean they can’t both be included. Emmy didn’t need food bribing because she tries to bite everything regardless if it's food or not. Since I had already replicated the mockups with Oreo, I decided to take some more unplanned images of Emmy, just letting her do her thing for the most part. I also got a much father overhead shot of her next to the bracelet compared to the closer version featured in the mock up I did with Oreo. I ended up with 49 images in total to choose from.
Next is choosing and editing the image. Out of the 49, I favorited 6 of them to be potential candidates. I then made a quick google docs form to send off. 2 of them were favored by my participants, conveniently, one of Oreo and one of Emmy. Both had the quality of providing empty space for potential text, being of higher quality, and the Oreo one specifically was one of the only that had a cat specifically interacting with the bracelet.
I decided to edit the Oreo one for this reason, but the Emmy image could totally work for a potential second announcement, since studios rarely ever settle for just one. To start off, I blurred the background of the image to place more emphasis on Oreo and the bracelet, that way people won’t get distracted by whatever is behind. I made sure to drop my company name, the release month, and of course, the title graphic made just recently. Where text was, in order to add contrast between it and the background, I made fades to a very light cream color. Cream was used instead of white in order to fit with the color scheme of the room.
Once editing was all done, its time to post the image! I added tags of my creations name’s as well as ones about the topics of my film. First instagram post done!
